How to make flip flop cakes

FLIP FLOP CAKE

Supplies that you need

1.One Baked sheet cake in a 13 x 9-inch pan.

2.Pre-tint two colors of frosting using food coloring

3.Make a Shoe template with cardboard or paper

4.Serrated knife

5.Pastry cone

6. M & M candies

7.Fruit Roll-Up

8.optional (silk flowers)

Instructions

1.Bake a regular sheet cake in a 13 x 9-inch pan.

2.Pre-tint two colors of frosting using food coloring.

One color will be pink, To be used to frost the entire cake.

And the second color will be yellow, which will used to create your borders.

3.Slice off the top of the sheet cake, to make it completely flat.

4.Flip the cake over.

5.Cut the cake right down the middle (the long way).

6.Make a flip flop shoe template with cardboard or paper to use as a stencil (You can trace your own shoes to make a pattern)

7.Place the flip flop stencil on one half of the cake and use a small knife to cut it out.

Repeat this for the other side of the cake.

8.Crumb coat both flip flop cakes. Apply a thin layer of frosting to the top and sides of the cakes.

9. Freeze the cake with the crumb coat for about 30 minutes.

Decorating the cake

1.Frost the whole cake with about 1/4 inch pink frosting

2.Add A yellow accent border to the top of your cake.

3.Using a large spatula and your hand, remove the two flip flop cakes from the baking sheet to a platter.

4 . Use colored m &m candies to decorate the sides of each flip flop cake.

5.Place two pieces of Fruit Roll-Up at the front of the flip flop cakes to serve as the straps.

6.Note: Cut the Fruit Roll-Up into pieces about 4 inches long, cut the ends at an angle and fold the bottom portion under about 1/4 inch to provide stability.

7.Place a silk flower between the straps of the flip-flop.
