Gumpaste-- sugar dough is used for cake decorating such as long-lasting flowers, ribbons, bows, leaves, and just about anything else you can imagine.

INGREDIENTS

4 large egg whites

2 lb. bag of 10X powdered sugar ( leave 1 cup a side. you will be using this sugar later to complete thickening the dough )

12 level teaspoons Tylose power... you can buy this in cake supply store, ( cost me about $3.50 for large can)

4 teaspoons shortening, (I buy any shortening can, but most people like to use crisco)

Directions

Add egg whites in your mixer, mix on high for 10 seconds.

Bring mixer on low, slowly add powder sugar, now put mixer back on high for 2 mintues,

Turn mixer back on low, add the tyclose power, turn mixer back on high for 2 mintues, (this will thicken the dough)

Grease your hands with shortenting, and place your dough on the table.

Add the remaining of the powder sugar to your dough, and start mixing it all together

Dough should be soft not sticky. Once you feel you have a smooth but elastic dough, you can stop kneading

Place your dough in plastic bag.

Keep refrigerated for 24 hrs.

When ready to use, take it out of the frig, and let it reach room temperature

Now you are ready to start creating your very own decorations.
