Worcestershire followed their 10-6 loss to Warwickshire with a narrow 9-7 defeat to Nottinghamshire. Malvern were represented in these matches by Geoff Marchant and Brian Turner who both won their games in contrasting style in the latter fixture. Geoff won a well-controlled game with a nice finish but Brian Turner's game was absolute carnage and was decided by a bizarre error in mutual, severe time trouble. Results.

The first club club night of the new season will be on Friday September 7th.
The club had another good season last year, finishing a close third behind Olton but some way short of Halesowen in the County league and coming second in the Worcester and District League behind Worcester.
John Knee, Brian Turner, Ian Clarke, Lee Davis and Geoff Marchant all played for the Worcestershire Minor Counties team and a number of players supported the Ball and Bennett Cups.
Ian Clarke beat Brian Turner in the all Malvern final of the Bennett Cup and Matthew Jordan completed the double by beating Ray Collett to claim the Ball Cup.
Brian Turner won the Club Championship with an excellent 9.5/11 from Lee Davis and Geoff Marchant who tied second with 9.
Malvern were well represented in the Worcestershire Closed Congress. Lee Davis and Ian Clarke finished with 3.5/5, Matthew Jordan 3/5 and Michael Butcher 2/5. Lee won first prize for the best senior.
