Last season summary

Malvern had a season to remember in the County League, winning the title with an unprecedented, in recent memory, 100% match score. Although all the matches were close, consistency won the day as they only lost one game in the league all season. Malvern finished 4th in the Worcester and District League, just behind Redditch on games won.

Geoffrey Herbert swept through the field in the Club Championship, winning the title with 5.5/7 from Brian Turner and Leigh Canham on 4.5/7.

Barry Stone won the Woodcock Prize for enterprising chess, awarded by the Worcestershire Chess Association, for his game against Geoffrey Herbert in the Club Championship.

Three Malvern players played for Worcestershire last season, whilst four played in the Worcester Open Congress and the Worcester and District individual competition.
