Ask Questions or Make Observations
- What are you curious about? What have you seen that makes you wonder?
Conduct Research to Form a Hypothesis
- Find information about your problem that leads to a possible cause. Create a hypothesis by making a prediction as an if/then statement that explains and confirms that cause.
Design an Experiment
- Create a procedure to test the hypothesis. Make sure your experiment only tests one variable at a time and keeps all other variables constant. Make sure your experiment contains at least 2 groups to be tested; one being the control group.
Conduct the Experiment
- Record the data in a chart. Conduct numerous trials to ensure your have repeatable results. Ensure each trial is identical to the first.
Analyze the Results
- Display the data in a graph. Compare the results to the prediction you made in your hypothesis. Was your hypothesis correct?
Form a Conclusion
- Why was your hypothesis correct or incorrect? Could the experiment be improved to gain more accurate result
