The Vaculoe is a sac of fluid that stores materials in a cell. These materials include water, food molecules, ions and enzymes.
- The vacuole in a plant cell is much larger than in an animal cell because it stores excess water.
- Animal cells can contain many small vacuoles but generally do not. Some are involved with the storage and digestion of food particles. Some vacuoles are used to store enzymes that will eventually be used by the cell for certain cell functions while others store waste products.
