I got this in an email sent from Anthony Desimone:
"Just for your information the u13 girls cold spring harbor hurricanes the player wearing #1 tried to sneak ear rings by wearing a headband... the result the girl is the coaches daughter she wouldn't take them out so she didn't play. Have the refs this week keep an eye out."
Just another reminder that we need to be vigilant in all of our duties.
Points of emphasis from this past week are as follows:
1. Failure to call the game correctly
2. Red cards
3. Scores being reported incorrectly
Especially in the older male age groups, there have been referees who are not officiating the game as a futsal match should be officiated. I along with other officials have seen instances where contact between opponents, that may be acceptable for a soccer match but not in futsal, was not sanctioned. This has led to escalating feelings between opponents in the past and will be the same in the future if actions are not necessarily taken. Fouls must be called. Advantage should only be given if there is an immediate scoring opportunity, and even then, an accumulated foul counted. 3 fouls be one player is a lot in a futsal match and referees should seriously consider this as persistent infringement. More than that should not go on unsanctioned by the referee(s).
Two weeks ago was the first week there was a red card displayed. There were at least two more last week with many yellow cards as well. Some players will get the idea that since the season is almost over there may not be repercussions for their actions. Be wary of player's attitudes and those who show aggressive behavior. Do not tolerate that type of behavior and deal with it with a heavy hand. If cards are necessary, use them but make sure all details are recorded on the scoresheet, regardless of color. If a red card is issued, in addition to having everything recorded on the score sheet, an email should be sent to John Branca (lifutsal@gmail.com) with the details of the situation.
As of the end of week 7 (2/17) there have been 4 reported instances of incorrect scores being recorded on the score sheet. It is becoming troublesome to fix the scores after they are originally entered. There is no excuse for this.
From now on, any referee who records an incorrect score on the score sheet will be fined $10 for each instance. If there are two referees scheduled for that particular game, both referees will be fined.
