Largest 2 Weekends Of Magic The Gathering Events Ever
Thank you for your support everyone.
About 2 weeks ago, a new set for Magic the Gathering was released to select stores so they could host prerelease events, including Leisure Time Games. The set is called Battle for Zendikar. It is a story theme set, based around the plane of Zendikar, and what happened when, during the original Zendikar block, the Eldrazi were released into the plane. The original Zendikar block ended on a cliff hanger- no one knew the results of the Rise of the Eldrazi; until now.
We've never had this many participants in a prerelease event. Over the course of the weekend, we had more than 120 participants, and we were completely sold out of event entries by the day before the event. Add to that, last weekend was the Battle For Zendikar Launch Weekend. This event was also arguably the most popular Launch Weekend we've ever ran.
Thanks to everyone who helped make these events incredible. Your continued support for what we do here is great motivation, and we will continue doing whatever we can here at Leisure Time Games to bring you the fantastic leagues, tournaments and events you've come to expect from us.
Thanks again everyone

POLYCON XXXIII, THE WRAP UP
Friends, Food And Fun- What More Could You Want
The Polycon Game Convention for 2015, held annually at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, is in the books. The Polycon weekend is kind of a big deal for us here at Leisure Time Games. We plan, prepare and pack ourselves and a chunk of our store to take with us. We get pretty busy playing games and selling our wares when we're there, and on top of that I'm a part of the Saturday BBQ crew as well, so it's a pretty busy weekend for yours truly.
All the work, planning and preparations that go into this weekend are well worth it. This little game convention (usually hosting between 250 and 300 participants every year), has a very loyal fan base, many of which have a history that goes back to the very first convention (SAGA, anyone?). Since this event is student supported, it also has a fresh group coming in every year to help support and make it possible. The number of people who I've come to know and appreciate over the years has steadily grown since I first became a part of it way back at Polycon 15.
Of course as a game convention, there's plenty going on. There are events happening from the time everything kicks off on Friday at 12:00 PM, until the end of the Sunday Auction at 4:00 PM. There are areas for open gaming, private rooms for games that require there to be a bit less hustle and bustle going on about them, activity areas, vendors, and all the other things regular attendees of game conventions in general have grown to expect. What really sets this convention apart from the others however, is the Saturday Evening BBQ, which is included in the cost of entering the convention. Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, green salads and sodas are on the bill of fare. If you're one of the folks who have volunteered to help organize and run Polycon, we've got Tri Tip for you. Petty sweet, right?
If you're a gamer, next year try to clear your calendar for the end of June. I do recommend that you attend. It would be a great opportunity to meet new friends, play a bunch of games, and socialize with what is in essence a family of gamers.

Halloween Horror Games Day
The Recap
October 25 2014 was a day that will live in infamy. Okay, that’s not true. It was however one of the best Games Day Events held to date. It was certainly the largest HHGD we've ever hosted.
First off, I want to thank The Mall at the Santa Maria Town Center for helping a guy out. They always come through for us for these large events by supplying us with tables, chairs and a place to run our events. There was a bit of scrambling this time; The Mall has been filling units in anticipation of the Holiday Season, and so we had to go with whatever they had. It actually worked out well in the end, and I appreciate their help.
We had over 80 participants for this 1 day event, which is totally awesome. Better still, we had 20+ games going on throughout the day, all of which were hosted by volunteer Game Masters. Without these people, there is no Games Day Event. Thanks for your help folks, I just couldn't do it without you.
Of special note, we hosted a Magic the Gathering event that turned out to be one of the biggest single game events of any type I've ever run- a Magic the Gathering Open Play Event. Thanks to the efforts of the MtG crowd that came. We were able to give out dozens of free MtG decks as well as some special promo cards from my personal collection to bribe...er "entice" people to give MtG a shot. Experienced players played with all the new people, and in turn all the players let me know they either played a game or showed someone how to play, earning themselves a promo card. Thanks to all these people, we were able to move from being an Advanced store within the Wizards of the Coast hierarchy, to an Advanced Plus store. I know that doesn't mean much to you, my gentle reader, but it does mean a bunch for me, your humble local game store owner.
So now that that event is over, we're gearing up for our next big Games Day Event, CENCON IV. This is another event that is beginning to look like it's gonna be BIG. You can get more info on that by going here:
Thanks again folks. We'll see you soon

DREADFLEET, FROM GAMES WORKSHOP
"For two bleak decades the Undead reavers of Count Noctilus have plagued the oceans of the world. After each raid, the Dreadfleet disappears into its lair as quickly and silently as it appeared, far from the reach of Man. And yet there remains hope. Captain Jaego Roth of the Heldenhammer has vowed to hunt down and destroy Count Noctilus and his Undead captains once and for all. With him sail the most notorious and cunning of the pirate lords of Sartosa, each borne to battle upon a giant warship bristling with cannons, organ guns and bolt throwers. At the stroke of midnight on Geheimnisnacht, most forsaken of nights, the Heldenhammer and her companions sail into the realm of undeath known as the Galleon's Graveyard. One by one, Count Noctilus and his vile allies move in to stop them.
Dreadfleet is a boxed game for two (or more) players that includes everything you need to make war on the turbulent seas of the Warhammer world. At your command are two fleets of ships - the Dreadfleet led by the Vampire Count Noctilus, aboard his gargantuan sea-hulk the Bloody Reaver; and the Grand Alliance commanded by the Pirate Captain Jaego Roth, who recently stole the Heldenhammer - the pride of the Imperial Fleet, and one of the largest galleons to ever sail the high seas.
As your ships engage in furious battle, it's down to you, the fleet captain, to make important split-second decisions. Do you bring all guns to bear on the closest enemy warship, or do you sail into position for a furious broadside? What happens when the warship catches fire, or worse, the powder kegs ignite? Exactly how much punishment can your warship take before it sinks without a trace? Are those Undead seagulls or flying piranha fish? And, when all else fails, do you have the courage to ram your foe, board their ship, and engage them in a duel to the death?" - From the Games Workshop Website, copied without permission

DRAGONBALL Z
Sealed Deck Tournament
For the first time ever, our website, www.leisuretimegames.com, has exceeded 1000 views in a single month.
I know this doesn't sound like much, but if you keep in mind this site isn't a sales hub, but rather a place to get information about what's happening at our store, that tells me there is an increasing amount of curiosity as to what is going on here at Leisure Time Games. Add to that the increasing attendance at our events, as well as day to day participation, our message that we aren't just a place to buy goods, but we are also a place of community and interaction is getting around.
Thanks for all your support folks
