March 2017
Fitness Meet at Castle High
Come support our Ka`a`awa students as they compete at the annual Windward District Physical Fitness Meet. Many of our students will complete against other elementary school students from the Windward district in numerous events such as, push-ups, sit-ups, and individual races. According to Lea Albert, Windward district complex area superintendent of the DOE, there are numerous researches indicating that physical education and fitness play an important role in the ability for students to learn. Our teachers and coach have been working hard with the students throughout the year on physical fitness and to prepare them for this event. The Fitness Meet will be held at the Castle High School on Thursday, March 2 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Students please be at school on time because the bus will leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. Click here for more information about how to prepare for the event and guidelines. Come support and cheer for our students!

Healthy Snacks
Our students are eating healthier! Every Thursday and Friday each of the students receives a healthy snack from the So Ono Fresh company before the second recess. Along with the healthy snacks the students are given information about the nutritional values of each fruits and vegetables and fun facts about them. The goal of our school's Healthy Snacks program is to help the students develop good eating habits. Below are a few examples of the shared fruit and vegetable fact sheets (print fact sheets).
