Sponsor: National Institute of Aerospace in support of NASA

Description: NASA’s Space Exploration Advanced System Concepts and Technologies (ASCT) Campaign and Technology Assessment has tasked NASA Langley to conduct a technology assessment to aid in their technology investment strategy to meet both near-term and far-term needs of the National Space Exploration Vision, within the scope of the 2005 "Exploration Systems Architecture Study" (ESAS). ASDL supported this effort with a process and tools.

    1. Definition of the technology database (taxonomy, characteristics, and data format)

    2. Definition of technology options for each of the major technology categories

    3. Collection of technology characteristic data

    4. Assessment of the technology options (performance, cost, schedule, risk)

    5. Assessment of technology impact and sensitivities on the Exploration architectures

    6. Technology prioritization

    7. Implementation recommendations
