Carrolls of North Texas

Carrolls of North Texas

I was glad to hear from Pam Carroll Stephens of North Texas, recently. It seems that her family is connected to our family through Jesse Wesley Carroll Jr. Her husband is connected to us through Sarah Frances Stephens Carroll. (JW. Carroll Jr's wife.)

I forwarded her email to Jesse J. Carroll Jr. who is our genealogist. They are in correspondence with each other at this time to determine how far back they go.

I had lost contact with pam but recently purchased a new computer and discovered her correspondence on an older backup file. So here it is... I remember dad telling me about his family going to Texas in the early days. They didn't care much for Texas so they came back home. I remember Dad telling me that they went by wagon train but my older brother Jesse remembers that they went by Locomotive Train. Dad's sister who was just a bit younger than he, was born on the way back and they named her Alabama Carroll. We called her Aunt Bam, she married Oliver Cruise and lived in Oxford, Alabama. We had two cousins who were born during their trip to Texas. They were Twins, Chester and Lester Carroll, born in Van Zant, Texas.

Hi James

My name is Pam (Carroll) Stephens - I live in N.E. Texas. My husband and I have started researching our ancestry and we came across the Creswell Cemetery website and your email. We found 'Sarah' listed that matches a person in my husband's list. Sarah's father is George Stephens if these are the same. Our Sarah was also born in 1869 in Calhoun County, Alabama.

George had another son from a previous marriage, Calvin, that is my husband's ancestry. This makes us 'cousins' from way back if these are the same Sarahs!

I wanted to ask where Eastaboga is located and if the cemetery can be visited? The names are so familiar in the list. My father's name was Joseph, his father's was Joseph Benjamin, and I have uncles, James, Robert, Floyd, etc. I am going to research this line some more. If you have any other info or advice, please send.

Thanks,

Pam
