plastic man

Why are you so quiet now?

My little yellow plastic man

Positioned so obscurely on my dresser

I almost feel sorry for you,

dear little neglected character

You used to be such company!

Playacting such charming scenes

with your small companion -- darling creature!

Such an enchanting pair you made.

You'd amuse me for hours

an unconscious signal and you'd spring to life

Brimming over with the most delightful fun.

Childishly accepting innocence

rejoicing in the bizarre games you knew.

Until I caught a nasty case

of the most inevitable childhood disease --

skepticism -- it's terribly difficult to treat, you know

I didn't bother to fight -- I'd be healthy again soon

(lasts only a lifetime -- not long at all)

But my small companion -- what happened to you?

Dancing vibrance stilled -- you must have grown old

Fading into perpetual slumber -- no! I yell

wake up! play for me! -- but you won't, not anymore

Poor little friend -- I disbelieved you into oblivion

Lying with your head bent back so obscurely 00

why are you so quiet now?
