Mr. Castillo is an Assistant Professor in the English Language Teaching Program at Universidad Surcolombiana. He holds a master’s degree in Translation Studies from the University of Newcastle in England, and a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching from the Universidad Surcolombiana. Mr. Castillo is the co-author of the book Deserción Estudiantil Universitaria "una experiencia investigativa" published in 2008, and recently published a research article as a result of a study on the use of authentic materials in the ELT context in Colombia. He was the research tutor of a students' research group called GAIA - Generando Aprendizaje Interactivo y Autónomo from 2015 to 2016.
Mr. Castillo's research interests focus on classroom experiences, particularly those which involve reflective teaching and learning and the use of innovative practices. He is also interested in exploring the role of translation in language teaching, and how interdisciplinarity can enhance the teacher education process.
Maryi Lorena Monje Araujo
Mrs. Monje is an English language teacher in the Foreign Languages School at Universidad Surcolombiana. She holds a Master’s Degree in Translation Studies from Universidad Autónoma de Manizales, and a bachelor's degree in English Language Teacher Education from the Universidad Surcolombiana. Mrs. Monje's research interests focus on pedagogical practices experiences as well as the role of translation in language teaching.
Mrs. Basto is an Assistant Professor at Universidad Surcolombiana. She holds a master’s degree in Didactics of English Language from Universidad de Caldas, and a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching from the Universidad Surcolombiana. Mrs. Basto is currently an English Language Teacher at Liceo de Santa Librada Highschool in Neiva, Huila. She is member of ASOHPI (Asociación Huilense de Profesores de Inglés). She was the co-researcher of the project "Análisis de las prácticas pedagógicas de los docentes del Insituto de Lenguas Extranjeras de la Universidad Surcolombiana" in 2014.
Mr. Cabrera holds a bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching from the Universidad Surcolombiana. He was a languages laboratory teacher at Universidad Surcolombiana from 2010 to 2016. He was also a placement test examiner (English Language Proficiency CEFR ) at the Foreign Languages School at Universidad Surcolombiana. Mr. Cabrera's research interests focus on the use of Information and Communication Technologies with educative purposes in and outside the English language classroom. He is also interested in software and materials designing.
