Title: Neutron star oscillations and gravitational waves

Abstract: I am going to discuss linear oscillations in stellar spacetimes describing neutron stars and their relationship to the emission of gravitational waves. New studies have included more realistic features, such as realistic equations of state, differential rotation and magnetic fields, for instance. I will discuss the influence of some of these new ingredients in more detail and show how they could be relevant for future gravitational wave detections.
