Abstract:
In this talk, we will explore the physics behind temperature gradients in thermal equilibrium states (Tolman temperature), specifically discussing the role played by the universality of free fall. We will also demonstrate that significant care and delicacy are necessary when extending Tolman's results to distinct classes of heat baths (not necessarily following a killing flow) in general stationary spacetimes.
