Next ACϟJC: 17 March, 2014 11am, A Special Introductory Talk on CMB Polarization and B-Modes

Post date: Mar 17, 2014 1:03:18 AM

This Monday the BICEP experiment measuring the CMB polarization will make a press conference at 1pm (SP time) hosted by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) - see here

Rumour has it that they have detected the so-called primordial B modes in the CMB, which can be generated by the fluctuations of the spacetime metric (gravitational waves) produced during inflation. See, e.g., here and here

Our own Fabien Lacasa will give a 20 minutes talk during our Astroparticle/Cosmology Journal Club that starts at 11:00am with an introduction to this subject and we will watch the press conference in the Auditorium on 1:00pm.
