Google Spaces bring teams together to discuss notes, add Drive files and assign tasks. Therefore, it's plain to see that Spaces help fulfill a very important part of the productivity package in Workspace. Similar to the products like Slack, collaboration on a single topic with admins and members allows for essential conversations.
Some critical features include threaded conversations, which make it easier to elaborate on your colleague's posts. In the "Files" tab of a space, you can see all the documents referenced out of Google Drive. Dedicated spaces can be made by project, by department or otherwise divided. You can use Google Workspace directory groups to quickly add a whole division into a Space. The advantage of Google Groups is that it is much more fluid based on how admin manages adding new users and removing others. Although tasks can only be assigned to one responsible individual member of the group using @, groups can be tagged in chat to notify them of new actions, goals, direction, etc. If you couple that with Google Workspace Flows, then you have an automation which keeps members in the loop.

Create a task
Mark a task as complete
Assign a task to a Space member
Assign a due date for task completion with in a handy calendar. And this integrates beautifully with Google Calendar by the way.
