Dark Potions
Welcome to lesson three. In this lesson we will be touching base on potions and brewing skills you need as an Auror while on the job. Potion making as you all know from your Potions class takes skills and practice to master over the course of your formal education. There are many potions and ingredients out there to brew up the weakest to the most powerful potions. However not all potions are safe and effective. Dark Potions are those used by Dark Wizards, use to gain power over their vitcim. Dark Potions are so complex that they can trick even the most skilled wizard. First will be covering some common Dark Potions that you will encounter in your work and finish off with some brewing skills.
Amortentia
Known as a love potion it gives the drinker a powerful obsession with the giver of the potion. Love potions are one of the rareist to be used by a Dark Wizard, they are mostly used to gain power and control over the victim.
Rodimentary Body Potion
This potion is used in conjuntion with dark magic, to create a clone body that can be inhertied by wizard who has lost their physical state and body. You might remember very well the well known Voldermort took on this form in Goblet of Fire.
Rebirth Potion
As with the above potion this requires a bone from the father, flesh from the servant, and blood from an enemy of the one for whom it is intended. It creates a new body for a Dark witch or wizard.
Horocruxes
As we learned in the first lesson, horocuxes are the spliting of one's soul in to many different parts in order to gain immortality. Often a dark wizard will use a cauldron and to place the ingredients of the creation of the rudimentary body which they use to split the soul.
Polyjuice Potion
This potion allows the drinker to take on the physical state of another person by using ingredients derived from the person. Polyjuice potions are illegal to use and brew by wizards. It is considered a crime even in the means of trying to get the ingredients.
Emerald Green Potion
This potion green in color, is often found around a lake, it is often used to hide things, because of the state and color it easily conceles its object. It also prevents for the object to taken, without the potion being drank and or disposed off. If drank the person experiences halucinations, and see terrible things, and act in a horrible matter.
Brewing Skills
As with any potion brewing skills are important for any wizard to successfully live a full magical life. These skills should come as early as the start of your first formal education at a Hogwarts. Aurors however are most in need of having good brewing skills. As part of their training they will take part in a brewing workshop which toches base on the practical skills of potions making they need in the field.
An Auror must become aware of dark potions and how dark wizards look about brewing them. When out on a case and you encounter a potion, you must investigate around to see any other traces of dark magic which can give you the first clue whether it is dark or not. Aurors are also responsible for preventing any bi standers or muggles from coming into contact with the potion. And final once determined what kind of potion it is and you have all your evidence you may dispose of the potion to prevent any further contamination.
