Halwara.btl

Early in the 1965 India-Pakistan War, Pakistan attempted to neutralize the Indian Air Force by striking at Indian air bases with flights of F-86s. In this particular encounter, a flight of three Pakistani Sabres strike at Halwara air base, which is defended by CAPing Indian Hawker Hunters. A vicious dogfight ensued, resulting in an even 2-2 score.

As the Hawker Hunter is not modeled, I have used the A-7E as a substitute. In the actual encounter, the Sabres actually simply strafed the air bases with their machine guns. I have armed the Sabres with bombs to facilitate their attack on Halwara.

Mmalam1.btl

This series of scenarios (mmalam1.btl-mmalam5.btl is designed to illustrate the exploits of Pakistani ace Mohammed Mahmood Alam during the 1965 Kashmir War between India and Pakistan. During a 10 day period, Alam was credited with nine kills over Indian Hawker Hunters.

In this first encounter, Alam is leading a flight of three F-86s on a low level raid on an airfield Adampur on September 6, 1965, immediately after the start of the war. During this encounter, Indian Hunters crossed the paths of the Pakistani Sabres. The two adversaries turned into each other. Alam quickly dispatched one Hunter, and then latched onto and downed a second Hunter. By this time, the Sabres were low on fuel and headed towards home.

In this scenario, I have equipped the Pakistanis with F-86Tai, as Sabres during this war were often equipped with Sidewinder missiles (although in this particular fight there were no missiles used). Because the Hawker Hunter is not modeled in FC2, I have used the A-7E as a substitute, as these two aircraft have very similar performance characteristics.

Mmalam2.btl

This series of scenarios (mmalam1.btl-mmalam5.btl) is designed to illustrate the exploits of Pakistani ace Mohammed Mahmood Alam during the 1965 Kashmir War between India and Pakistan. During a 10 day period, Alam was credited with nine kills over Indian Hawker Hunters.

After downing two Indian Hunters (depicted in scenario mmalam1.btl), Alam found that his flight was low on fuel. He ordered his wingmen home, but was seperated from his comrades, so he ended up flying home alone. On his way back he encountered two more Hunters, which he attacked, possibly damaging one aircraft before breaking off and heading back to land safely.

In this scenario, I have equipped the Pakistanis with F-86Tai, as Sabres during this war were sometimes equipped with Sidewinder missiles (although in this particular encounter no missiles were used by either side). Because the Hawker Hunter is not modeled in FC2, I have used the A-7E as a substitute, as these two aircraft have very similar performance characteristics.

Information for this scenario was obtained from http://babriet.tripod.com/articles/art_mmalam.htm On his way back he encountered two more Hunters, which he attacked, possibly damaging one aircraft before breaking off and heading back to land safely.

Mmalam3.btl

This series of scenarios (mmalam1.btl-mmalam5.btl) is designed to illustrate the exploits of Pakistani ace Mohammed Mahmood Alam during the 1965 Kashmir War between India and Pakistan. During a 10 day period, Alam was credited with nine kills over Indian Hawker Hunters.

In this scenario, Alam does not actually do any of the fighting. He instead witnessed an attack on his home airfield by Indian Hunters from the cockpit of his Sabre, which was waiting to scramble the intercepting raid. Seven Mystere IV fighters came swooping in at tree-top level to attack the airfield with rockets and cannon. The attack apparently did no damage, and as the Indian aircraft made their escape, they were in turn attacked by a Pakistani F-104, which destroyed one of the Mysteres. The rest escaped.

Mmalam4.btl

This series of scenarios (mmalam1.btl-mmalam5.btl) is designed to illustrate the exploits of Pakistani ace Mohammed Mahmood Alam during the 1965 Kashmir War between India and Pakistan. During a 10 day period, Alam was credited with nine kills over Indian Hawker Hunters.

After witnessing the attack on his home air base, Alam took off with his wingman heading east. After flying 10-15 miles, his flight was recalled back to defend the base from attack by four Hunters. As Alam approached Sargodha another pair of Hunters attacked from the rear.

Alam reversed and attacked, downing one with a Sidewinder missile. The rest of the Hunters disengaged and headed back towards Indian airspace. Alam pursued and caught the Hunters from behind, destroyng four in quick sequence.

Mmalam5.btl

This series of scenarios (mmalam1.btl-mmalam5.btl) is designed to illustrate the exploits of Pakistani ace Mohammed Mahmood Alam during the 1965 Kashmir War between India and Pakistan. During a 10 day period, Alam was credited with nine kills over Indian Hawker Hunters.

On September 16, Alam scored his eigth and ninth kills. Alam and his inexperienced wingman were flying a mission approaching two airbases in India when two Hunters were scrambled to intercept. In a long battle, Alam downed both of the Hunters, one with gunfire, the second with a Sidewinder missile.

Runf104.btl

On September 3, during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965, an ambush was planned by the Indian Air Force in an attempt to avenge the loss of four Vampires on the opening day of the war. CAPing F-86 Sabres and a F-104 Starfighter were ambushed by a mixed force of IAF Mysteres and Folland Gnats. The results of the fight were a heavily damaged Sabre that managed to make it back to base safely and a Gnat that got turned around and forced to land at a Pakistani air base, it's pilot taken prisoner.

As the Mystere and the Gnat are not modeled in FC2, I have substituted the F-86F and the A-4A, respectively.

Sargod65.btl

On September 7, during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965, an Indian strike was launched against the Pakistani air base as Sargodha. Three waves of four Mysteres were sent to attack with cannon and rockets, but many of the aircraft aborted for various reasons, leaving six aircraft to attack in the first wave, and a lone Mystere to attack in the second. As the Mysteres carried out their attacks, Pakistani CAP were vectored in to intercept. An F-104 arrived first, attacking the lone aircraft of the second wave as it tried to escape back into India. This aircraft was severely damaged by 20mm cannon fire but finally destroyed by a collision with the F-104.

As the Mystere is not modeled in FC2, I have substituted the F-86F for the Mystere.
