What have I added this for!?
When you see '72-j175' do you skim the page and read past it as it means something you don't understand. I have, and I bet a load more people do too!
We can put the people who understand all this on a pedestol and leave them to it or we can make a stab to learn what they know. I pay for radio magazines so I want to get the most out of them, if a little extra homework means I get to read those pages that I thought were too 'high-brow' for me then it's worth it.
I would strongly recommend reading the on-line book All about circuits. You can download the entire book as PDF or read sections on-line. The AC section is a fantastic resource for those learning or revising AC and RF. Take time to read from the beginning, I wish this had been available when I did my Electronics exams! 'Complex' numbers become easy, they will become so clear that seeing '72-j175' will be "Oh I see now!". Please take some time to read it and if you do have problems ask an 'Elmer', me, the author, another Amateur in a QSO, anybody - you may find you now know more than a lot of other people!!
Anyway - we all need to know some theory and I am always learning and trying to simplify the complicated stuff into things I can hopefully explain to others. These pages may to too simplified for some but they can correct me!
So I've added some simple explanations someone might find useful - they are not meant to be the bees-knees or meant to dumb down the hobby but hopefully they might just give you a different slant on something you have been struggling with.
I know a lot of people may scorn my scribblings, but the idea is for people to use it as a basis for further study, if anything helps one person make another QSO then I think it's been worthwhile. If there are things that are downright stupid and wrong then let me know so I can learn more (again useful!) and stop others learning from my bad mistakes (again useful!). And you have the satisfaction of enlightening at least one person!
