The SRC X80 is up and connected!
What a difference it makes to have the correct tools for the job. You may have read I now use crimp BNC connectors and with the correct striping tool they are a breeze to fit, a little Vaseline and heatsink makes the job complete. I also used some good quality self amalgamating tape I got from the North Wales Rally Power Link + (10 metres for 3 GBP) - this really sealed the serial connection.
I've tuned up on all bands from 80 - 10 with the LDGZ100 and the MFJ-902 with only 20m giving me an issue.
There was some horrible SRN on the band last night shifting over the bands so I will have to track that down but I seem to have a pretty quiet location.
I did realise that a cubical quad 5 doors down operating on 20m really tests the IC-718 even with the attenuator switched in!!!
Now to some operating with the vertical (not expecting DX) and getting the doublet up.
