An all-inclusive resort has pros and cons. I will mention a few:
I pay a price and that includes everything except excursions
I can even secretly make a bag of food for lunch on the go
I can eat healthy without effort
I will eat a lot especially the first day
Lots of choices in what I can eat
I can eat almost 24 hours in a day, because there is always food available
I have to measure myself in terms of food
I get stingy on the way to spend money on food and drinks because it's free in the resort
I always eat at the same place
I eat dessert I wouldn't otherwise
Wine and beer are also included, but not for me, because I sometimes drink a glass of wine with dinner at most
Entertainment is also included. I pray that my apartment is far away from it and others that it is close to the entertainment
Some people don't get off the resort. I myself do that for hikes, excursions, etc.
I have stayed in an all-inclusive hotel twice in my life.
The last two days of my 3-week trip through Cuba. There was no other option to fly cheap.
And the second time was in Marbella when I walked the *4 Days of Marbella.
In Cuba I didn't like it at all. I missed the locals I kept meeting on the other parts of the trip. In Marbella it was super nice to think about nothing but hiking. 2 different experiences and 2 different opinions about the same phenomenon and from the same person, me. So when hiking I would do it again, but not otherwise….
I have been on cruises in the Caribbean, these were also all-inclusive, because you can't get off the boat when at sea. It is also all inclusive, but different. It is different because there are formal dinners. But the same, because you can always ask for food, and it is included.
Maybe there are changes due to Covid-measures. At most of the all-inclusive I get my food myself, but now with the virus it could be that the all-inclusive service has changed. All the experiences above are before Covid-measures.
*I walked 4Daagse Of Marbella in 2019. I stayed far away from the party each night after the hike. Never been a party animal and never will be.
