Powers: Sonic Manipulation and Superhuman hearing. Aaron is able to amplify sounds as well as render them undetectable by normal human hearing standards. Ability he uses as warning cries as well as to conceal conversations when in a crowd or sneak around without being heard. His ability can also extend to the point of making sonic noises such as his voice into an actual physical attack
that either stuns the opponent or ruptures their ear drums. His super hearing ability allows him to listen to conversations as far as three or four blocks away, if he knows what specific sound or voice he has to focus. He can tell if someone's lying by how their bodies sound as well as he's able to easily differentiate people's voices, even impersonators and shape shifters.
Power Limitations: Aaron's hearing is extremely sensitive when unfocused. If someone were too physically assault him rendering him disoriented or confused a mild scream can be enough to render him useless in battle. Aware of this he tries to always keep the volume controlled, which makes him extremely jumpy around large crowds. His sonic blast from the manipulation of sound levels is something he can’t always rely on, it can either cause a path of destruction (Blowing up a car when throwing someone against it) or a mild shove (when he really wanted to get the person to move away.). Though he can make a person mute around him, once they leave his proximity the effect wears off. Hearing from a distance without a specific sound to lock on may give him headaches.
Hobbies and Interests: Aaron, ironically enough, likes music and has been actively involved in the industry since he was 15. He was actually an Idol in Tokyo and often appeared on TV shows and specials there, singing in English. After Grey he also developed an obsession with training and physical exercise, something he practices almost religiously. He has recently taking up painting as a relaxing pastime.
Background: He and his small family seemingly had a normal suburban life with not much to expect till Aaron turned 13 and discovered he had strange abilities. When he and his brother were playing catch he threw the ball too high and saw it head towards the window, scared he reached out and somehow blocked the sound. After this moment most of his abilities came over time. He used them for normal teenage urges (Like sneaking out without being heard) and once he managed to warn the police about a bank robbery from a distance. His brother was the only one that knew what he was, and advice not to tell anyone because they would call him a freak.
When he was 16 an earthquake hit his town, destroying his home and taking the life of his parents. He woke up next to his unconscious brother and used his sonic scream to break a hole through the rubble and alert the rescue parties where they were. He was placed in the care of his uncle Rory, who lived in Japan and worked for a local TV station. This is where his break in the industry first started, since he auditioned for a local talent contest and got popular ratings, probably because he was American and was popular with young girls all across Japan.Though he did live off the fame life in Japan, he often traveled to New York where he's notknown to visit his brother who became a lawyer there. In his last visit, he ended up in a situation where his power put in danger someone's life. Because of this he decided to stay in the US and find a way to better use his gifts. It was through this that Aaron discovered the Grey Institute for Higher Learning. After arriving to the school, Aaron felt immediately taken by David Grey, despite himself. And for the most part had tended to focus on him a lot, though he did make an effort to get to know everyone. He found Dallas, Cesca and Clover to be fun people. And June was definitely someone he felt he could relate to a lot. He found control for his powers too, but when the summer came, he actually decided to stay. Something that didn’t go well with his brother Brock. His relationship with David was something that confused him as well, since he got a lot of mixed signals from it. He started at the school the next semester, taking college courses and pretty much attempting to put any music business stuff behind. He also joined one of the teams and began to take pretty seriously his role in them. As well as actually started to date David.
Everything sort of fell through before the Holidays, after a time traveling incident made him witnessed David’s near death call. This led him to speed up his feeling for the other, something that made David pull away. In the end they ended up taking a break. He ended up in a confusing kiss situation with Raphael. But at least that led to the two of them becoming friends. Things got a bit worse when Brock invited him for thanksgiving and ended up attacking him and June and Meredith because he refused to join forces with him. It was here Aaron discovered for real his brother was indeed a mutant. They managed to escape unharmed, but Aaron was devastated about it for a while.
After David finally decided that he didn’t want to pursue the relationship, Aaron closed himself bit up emotionally and traveled to Japan, coming back really late, but bringing his cat for comfort. He decided that he needed to reevaluate his life better, since for the last months he seemed to have lost any sort of control over it. He finally decided to forget about guys, focusing Instead on the training and studies. Though he did try dating on occasion. He got involved with music again, which made him consider recording but not completely, he was also having thoughts about leaving the school, but a magical attack by his brother and the events of graduation made him stay, finishing the credits he needed to only have one more year to go. He also developed a pretty steady relationship with Phil a local student, and was at a more focused point in his life’s goal.Aaron spent much of the next school year trying to find himself again, though in a healthier way than before. He pretty much pulled out of his relationship with Phil before actually breaking up with him as he felt no spark at all, and started to take training more seriously. He also started to write music again and got generally interested in music again. His role as an X-Men saw great increase during this year, as he was in several important missions, including one where they were assisted by the Exiles, and the rescue mission against demons. He also found working with SHIELD to be a rather inspired move and improved his skills. He rescued Raphael from getting beat up by a mob of bigots after one of his plays. He, David and Dallas did end up in a very public fight against Brotherhood members and all suffered legal consequences to this. Aaron, ironically, got some of his former fame back due to the media coverage. Eventually he was sentence to 60 days in Prison and spent his summer break locked away with the other two.Aaron returned from prison with a newfound appreciation for life and a bit of a tone down attitude. He decided to put all badness behind him by taking a chance in getting his own business and opening a local music club that would be mutant friendly. He had the capital and seemed to find a good deal with a wealthy business man, named Brian, who had rented the property and later helped out come up with a business plan.
This all was a welcome destruction when he was informed he would only be serving the X-Men in back up fashion as he was placed on the reserved thing. His ego thus crushed, he pretty much ignored all X-Men related things, or pretended to, secretly pushing the idea of helping with training to David. His personal life gained a bit of a complication when he was surprised by Brian making advances towards him. Shortly after, Raphael admitted to some long standing feelings. Aaron, noting he got himself in a complicated situation he didn’t ask for, decided not to date neither, but it seemed both got the wrong impression of this, as Raphael and Brian both assumed Aaron chose Brian.
The latter eventually became a problem, because upon hearing Aaron’s protestations Brian lost his mind and set up to kill Aaron and burn down the club, though Aaron was rescued by Raphael and Chance, the club was destroyed. Aaron only kept a few mild injuries from the incident but his pride got the worse of it, since everyone assumed this was consequence of him supposedly picking Brian. Resenting his friends and feeling generally sick of himself Aaron took a leave of absence to visit his Uncle and decided to stay throughout the next year.
He did return earlier though, upon finding out what happened to the mansion and Elisa. He felt guilty for not being around, but realized given the scale of the attack, he wouldn’t had done much difference. Upon the school’s closing, Aaron moved to San Francisco for a while, before settling in LA. He at times was called to help with certain incidents and visited his friends quite often, but overall made a pretty quiet life for himself. Though he still yearned for the hero days, he had no real hurry to return to them. He was happy with what he had built for himself. He started a relationship with Paul, a PR agent who more or less pushed him into getting back his singing career so the two of them opted to move back to Japan to jump kick things where his fan base was located. This worked and he was quickly working his way back to the States, where he teamed up with Ryan Spears on a tour. This led to an incident that brought back his past as an X-men since a trapped was set up for Emerald. After the mess was cleared, he and Paul got into an argument that boiled down to Aaron choosing Paul and his career or going back to the X-Men super hero life. Aaron packed his things up and left as a way of reply and rented out a place in downtown Tokyo. He kept a low profile life in Japan, appearing only on TV spots and commercials on occasion. one night he found himself caught up in the middle of what seemed to be a ninja battle. He ended up helping a lone warrior that went by Ronin when the warrior was gravely injured during the battle. After this, Ronin revealed to be Maya Lopez, a deaf woman who had incredible skills. She viewed her meeting Aaron as fate and persuaded him to not only help but take over her mantel as she was dying from a fatal disease. Aaron agreed only to help and his mind didn’t change till he discovered the ground Maya wanted to stop was run by his brother, Brock.Having avoided dealing with him for so many years, Aaron finally decided to take the choice and spent the following year in becoming Ronin. This led to many confrontations with Brock, who was unaware he was fighting his brother. Eventually, Ronin snuck into his room at night and killed Brock after revealing himself as his brother. This event change Aaron completely, and he pursued the identity of Ronin, even knowing this would lead him into trouble one day with his former friends.David, sent by SHIELD, came in search for Ronin and was surprised to learn he was Aaron. Aaron for his part allowed himself to be caught by SHIELD and used it as an excuse to take Ronin out of the game publically for the time being. In a compromise to not have to deal with any retaliation for his past crimes, Aaron accepted to reinsert himself with the X-Men and of course offered his services and connections should SHIELD need them.He also grudgingly allowed himself to participate as a teacher in the new school. He took the codename of Echo, explaining to David and other members who were aware of his other persona that he didn’t want the X-Men linked to any business that Ronin could bring. He still uses the name and disguised often, more for missions on his own, but sometimes to help the X-Men or SHIELD get Intel needed for a mission. This is likely why he was place in the black op team.As a teacher, Aaron has gained some popularity for being both easy going and according to some of them cute. This plays to his need for attention personality well. He has also resumed a relationship with David, one he’s weary has become stable and meaningful even though he’s not sure he’s the right guy for David. Using his former stardom into his advantage, he has also tried his best to some damage control to how the public perceives the X-Men and never flinches when asked about it by the press.Personality: Though Aaron doesn’t really appear to be as bubbly as he once was, he still retains a very pleasant and charismatic personality. Though a lot of the time, to some people it may come off as forced. He also still maintains a certain need for attention, though he no longer seeks approval of others. He’s not as thick headed as he once used to either and has developed a bit of a habit of advising people even when his opinion is not asked.Special Notes (if any): Aaron’s keeps using the Ronin suit, but it’s on very rare occasions and usually no one but likely David would be aware when, even though the black ops team would know he uses it at times. Furthermore, aside from being given a direct order to take the Ronin name on a mission, he acts as though he’s not Ronin and will refer to the suit as a Third Person, only answering to Echo as far as his codename goes.
