Mother: Name: Marcy White Age: 49 Race: mutantFather: Name: Peter White Age: 50 Race: humanOther Relatives:Sister: Kiki (14, unknown) Nate (17, human) Powers:
Apart from his slightly altered appearance, Josh has the ability to create toxins (a kind of neurotoxic); biologically produced poisons. Dustin’s body naturally forms various kinds of toxins secreted from the glands in his finger tips. Josh dose have control over when he secrets toxins though they are triggered by periods of heighten emotional stress, fear being a key one. The dosage and strength of his toxins relatively constant the effects change given how much a person is exposed to- the most extreme cases inducing paralysis if a strong enough dosage is given.
Thankfully Josh is immune to his own toxin and has shown a higher immunity to a variety of others as well.
Power Limitations:
Josh’s toxins have a variety of symptoms; double vision, sweats, respiratory depression and severe pain, as if the flesh is burning superficially, but cold and numb feeling under the skin.
The symptoms can last mere minutes (quick smear) or up to six hours (prolonged exposure from about anything over two minutes), depending on the severity of contact to the toxin. In extreme cases (three minutes of direct contact against his glands or minor ingestion) the venom can cause temporary paralysis of the affected limb, blackening of skin and necrosis (tissue death, though this would require a large amount of toxin) around the point of contact. It can be denatured by soaking the skin in hot water.
To paralyze someone completely, a substantial amount of toxin (table spoons worth) would have to be directly ingested into the body (either through the mouth, gum, eyes or open wound). While paralyzed the
mind would still be active, as the paralysis reduces oxygen demands of the body dramatically, but because the toxin does not cross the blood-brain barrier, neural activity in the brain and from the eyes and ears are always intact. The venom consists of a mixture of proteins, including the hemolytic stonustoxin, the neurotoxic trachynilysin and the cardioactive cardioleputin.Josh is not immune to all poisons and any given in a high enough does will affect him the same way. He is only able to produce a finite amount of poisons at any given time and can ‘dry up’ mostly this is it he has to produces ten or so milligrams in less than five minutes. Hobbies and Interests:Josh was never a ‘sports’ kind of a guy, outside of things like pool. He’s typically an ‘indoors’ sportsman, with a well honed skill for console games. Typically he just enjoys spending a relaxed time with friends, going skating, movies or just to the pool hall (though he’s more than happy to try and sneak into a bar if he can) Background:
Being bought up in rather well balance family outside of the typical problems that face every family Josh life was pretty uneventful. Though as they got older living with Nate got progressively harder as he excelled in sports and ‘guy things’ and Josh was the taller lanky little brother who never had the right co ordination.
This might have been a problem if his parents hadn’t stomped out Nate’s ego rather quickly and that neither really cared about Josh’s lack of desire to join any team contact sport. Though despite things going along smoothly there was always a sense of tension which for a lot of his life Josh didn’t understand until it was explained about his mothers ‘difference’, while only a minor ability of being able to see the while light spectrum on her own, there was cause to worry about her children. It got progressively worse as Nate hit thirteen. Every week or so their mother would pull Nate aside making sure that he knew being different was ok, and that if he ever needed to talk. Initially jealous of the extra attention Nate was getting it wasn’t long before the same things were being asked of him as well.
When Nate his 15 and there was still no signs, his parents seem to breathe a little easier. Often it was talked about getting them all ‘checked’. When Josh was close to also hitting 15 he could already tell his parents thought they were out of the woods when Josh’s skin started to itch, it only took a matter of weeks before the spots were completely present and Josh wrists started oozing, covering it up with sweat bands Josh parents tried to be supportive and positive. Feeling strange but ok Josh kept going to school despite the way the other children avoided any physical contact.
Josh started to change, withdrawing when he accidentally knocked out and killed a neighbored dog when it licked the sweat bag. It only got worse when he put a class mate into the hospital when they touched his desk that had some residual toxins on it. Going to drugs and alcohol as a coping Josh changed from the positive little kid to the emo teenager with a death wish, starting to stupid ticked on his board hoping to just hurt himself over and over. It wasn’t until he witnessed his little sister being picked on by a bunch of kids from his class who decided she was an easy target, scaring them off he was more shocked to find out it had been going on for months and Josh on his own bender hadn’t been able to notice. Taking matters into his own hands Josh planned on smearing toxins on the bully’s desks in a hope that by the time they came into school the next day they’d get sick. Nate caught him and his parents pulled both Kiki and Josh from the school. Over the next month Josh’s parents debated what to do with him worried that just moving schools wouldn’t really help. Putting him in grey’s was the better choice where they could help him deal and they no longer had to worry about Josh hurting anyone by accident and putting Kiki in another school. Personality:
When his powers first surface Josh was unstable and emotionally traumatized little brother with a high dependency on drugs and alcohol as his coping mechanism to 'deal with' his new self, Josh has since grown. No longer distraught, and unable to cope with, the changes around him, Josh has become a force of stability in his own family, and particularly concerning his sisters wellbeing
Josh was raised to care for others, especially his family. This, at times, makes him rather impulsive, stubborn and pigheaded when concerning the fate or well being of someone he loves, or one of his friends. Fiercely loyal in nature, there isn't anything Josh wouldn't do to protect those closest to him; clearly an inherited family trait.
Despite all the drama surrounding his family and particularly his sister, Josh is not an unkind or cruel kid. Yes, he has been burnt on numerous occasions, every girlfriend he's ever had seems to get hurt... hotheaded (but no more so than any fifteen year old looking out for his family and friends) and yet he tries to remain focused and optimistic despite all that. He is in a stable and, dare he admit it, happy place and looking to the future.
