Robotic drones?

Currently (March 2013) America's drones are flown remotely - a 'pilot' thousands of kilometres away sees what the drone sees and the human pilot pulls the trigger to fire the drone's weapons and kill people. Thus it could be said a human is doing the killing, rather than the drone. This is about to change. Soon 'robotic drones' like the one above will be performing pre-programmed missions without the live intervention of a 'pilot'. The drones will decide for themselves who they are going to kill, and when. How morally acceptable is this? See the BBC article HERE.
