Wildlife Contest

This is a regional qualifying contest in 2024.  Teams will first compete in a virtual screener exam on February 29 to determine the top 12 schools that can complete in-person on March 22 at FVTC. This is a state qualifying contest with the top teams advancing to the State CDE Contest. The teams that advance will be determined by the State CDE guidelines. Placement of teams will be determined by tabulating the three highest scores of contestants from the school. There will not be practice teams. One team per school.

Description of the Contest

1.  The Virtual Screener exam will consist of multiple choice questions.  Time limit is one hour.  No resources or team collaboration.

2.      A team will consist of three or four members. But the total of the top three (3) team members will determine the team score.

 

3.     The contest will consist of 25-50 questions including general knowledge and identification of common wildlife management items.  This will include: terminology, mounted specimens, furs, skeletal material, research tools, equipment, maps, diagrams, plants and food items.  A set limit (1-2 minutes) will be allowed for each station. Each item is worth one point.  The question format will include short answer, multiple choice, and true/false.

 

4.      The contest will start at 9:00 a.m. and tardiness will likely cause late contestants to lose points.

 

5.  Each contestant should bring a clipboard and a #2 pencil.



Each school may enter one team.
