Teams will assemble in AG132 at the FVTC Agriculture Center.
Description of the Contest:
The placement of teams will be determined by tabulating the three highest scores of contestants from the school.
The contest will consist of:
General Knowledge Examination - 50 multiple-choice questions that cover the areas of the Nursery/Landscape industry reflected in the current National FFA Career Development Event Handbook. Areas for testing include plant materials, plant disorders, cultural practices, landscape design and construction, supplies and equipment, safety, equipment operation and maintenance, interpersonal relations (skills), salesmanship, records, and reports. The time limit is one hour. No resources or team collaboration.
ID of Plant Material - Identifying up to 40 specimens listed on form 14, State FFA Career Development Nursery and Landscaping Plant Identification list. Each contestant will be allowed 30-40 minutes for this phase of the contest. Each plant is worth one point.
Team Problem-Solving Activity - Participants will compete as a team to solve an integrated problem associated with the industry. The team will have the freedom to use all information, organize themselves to solve the problem in their own way, and determine how they will put their solution together.
Special Requirements:
Individuals are expected to bring their own manual calculator and sharpened #2 pencils.
