Students understand and demonstrate the science and management practices needed to produce high-quality crops. The Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE) challenges participants to apply knowledge in crops, weeds, insects, diseases, soils, nutrient deficiencies, grain grading, and crop inputs through a written exam and hands-on practicum.
Number of Teams:
This contest is capped at the first 15 schools to register. One team per school.

Description of the Contest:
The placement of teams will be determined by tabulating the three highest scores of contestants from the school.
Activities and Test Questions will relate to the following topic areas:
Crops
Weeds
Seeds
Insects
Diseases
Plant nutrient deficiencies
Grain Grading
Crop inputs and equipment
The contest will consist of:
Individual Activities
Written Exam - 50 multiple-choice questions. The time limit is one hour. No resources or team collaboration.
Practicum - plant and seed identification, soils, and grain grading, general fertility knowledge, insect identification, and seed analysis.
Approximately 10 minutes will be allowed per ring.
Special Requirements:
Individuals are expected to bring their own manual calculator, sharpened #2 pencils, paper, and clipboard free of notes and other markings.
