Alert/Lockdown Plan
PURPOSE: To alert staff that potential conditions exist which could endanger or jeopardize the safety and welfare of staff or students.
PROCEDURES: Implementation of this plan will include notification of staff members that they are to secure classrooms, account for students, and prevent movement of students during a period when individual or collective safety could be at risk.
CARD
To be displayed during Lockdown, Fire, and Bomb incidents and drills ONLY!
Place on door AND windows, if it is needed and you can safely do so.
Red Card
EMERGENCY SERVICES NEEDED IMMEDIATELY
Examples: student with injury or an unknown/suspicious device or person is in the room.
This card should be used in Code Red Lockdowns Only.
ACTIONS
Lockdown: Utilize basic lockdown procedures.
Hide: If you are in an area that cannot be secured.
Run: If instructed by law enforcement, you are outside, or your life is in imminent danger.
Fight: As a last resort when no other option is available.
IMPLEMENTATION NOTES:
The decision to implement the plan will be that of the principal or other administrators.
Teachers are not to inform students that there may be a potentially dangerous situation, unless in the judgment of the teacher he/she must in order to account for all students.
The physical education teachers using the outdoor areas will be notified by messenger or phone to return to their classroom/gym areas.
If a situation were to occur after school, we would use the same message and begin to notify personnel on campus in person as to what assistance was needed or give them additional information.
After implementation of the alert plan, all staff members will meet in a designated area for an update and assessment of the situation. STAFF MEMBERS; DO NOT LEAVE CAMPUS UNTIL YOU ARE DISMISSED. YOU WILL NEED TO REMAIN FOR PARENT CONTACTS, ETC.
The principal or his designee will dismiss staff members.
