As 21st century educators, communication is crucial. Teachers shall provide communication through:
- Paper correspondence. This will likely be in the form of an official welcome letter and/or syllabus. Once digital correspondence and communication has been established, then paper may no longer be necessary. Do not assume all families have access to Internet, Data, Wifi, etc.
- Canva. All teachers should maintain Canva that is consistently updated and provides accurate, meaningful, and easily accessed information, including your contact information, class information, and dates of major assessments. Again, do not assume that everyone will know how to navigate your materials. Consider providing instructions.
- Face-to-Face and/or Telephone. Face-to-face will take place with Walk-Your-Schedule, Open-House, and necessary Parent Conferences. If you are unsuccessful with reaching out to parents by email or paper, you should reach out by telephone.
- Email. When both parties are able, email is an acceptable form of communication. However, two important notes: 1) If you do not receive confirmation and reverse communication, then you should reach out in another form. 2) Even when a parent emails an "FYI" email that does not appear to require a response, RESPOND, even if it is just to say, "Thank you for the information. We will work with Johnny when he returns so that he may make up his test.
Portion of PDP SMART Goal will be to utilize Remind101 once per quarter.
-Remind101 and/or Talking Points. Text messaging. Even parents without computers, data plans, or wifi often have access to text messages.
NO MATTER WHAT FORMAT YOU USE, FOLLOW-UP, FOLLOW-UP, FOLLOW-UP!
