Board Policy 3240 The teacher’s minimum workday shall extend from one - half hour before the student’s day begins until the teacher has completed his/her professional responsibility to the students and the school.
3240.1 Program development, professional growth activities, faculty meetings, bus duty, parent conferences, special help for individual students, and care of school property and equipment are examples of the kinds of activities which will require the continuation of professional service beyond the departure of students.
This policy in no way reduces the principal’s authority to assign duties and responsibilities which may extend beyond the hours set forth above whenever such assignments are necessary for the efficient operation of the school. Likewise, it in no way relieves any teacher of the professional responsibility for contributing to those activities which further the objectives of the individual school and school system.
This policy of the Board of Education applies to all special teachers such as librarians, speech therapists, art and music consultants, and home-school coordinators.
