A documentary exploring Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD), the human form of BSE (Mad Cow Disease).

The disease has a long incubation period, spanning several decades, with scientists warning over a potential "second wave" of cases.

The film investigates how BSE infected material entered the human food chain and the devastating consequences it had for families across the UK.

BSE is not consigned to the history books, it has recently been detected on farms in Ireland & America. Post-Brexit, the UK could be opening the doors to beef products from the USA which don't meet EU safety standards. The US tests less than 1% of cattle going to slaughter for BSE.

The aim of this film is to highlight the story of the victims of vCJD, to examine the Governments handling of the BSE crises and to explore the ethics of the farming and food industry.

As the recent horse meat scandal highlighted - do we honestly know what's going in our food?
