This film is a tender, but painful, documentary about the director's parents. Mixing old family films and current interviews with members of her family, it probably reveals more than the director realises. Her late mother was an extrovert, almost raucous, beauty. Her father, perhaps the film's true hero, reads from a family memoir he wrote and submits himself to his daughter's probing questions. The unreliability of memory shows the importance of letting everyone tell their own story.
