Cria Cuervos

A gripping drama of family dysfunction and a parable of post Franco Spain. Eight year old Ana (Ana Torrent) hears a woman in bed with her father (Hector Alterio). The woman rushes to the front door. Ana enters the bedroom and finds her father dead from a heart attack. She takes a glass of milk to the kitchen where her mother chides her for being up so late and sends her to bed.

Reality and and fantasy are mixed. The death of her father (a brutal fascist general) is real; the appearance of her mother (Geraldine Chaplin) is imagined. Ana's mother has been dead for some time. Her mother's sister, Aunt Paulina comes to loive with Ana and her two sisters and Ana gradually learns the truth about her family.
