TENTH GENERATION

N.X. KURIAN (KURIECHAN)

Shouvriyarachan's second son KURIECHAN after completing his law degree [B.L] joined the Bar at Alappuzha. He became a renowned lawyer. He was a brilliant advocate and the law fraternity respected him immensely. He spend most of his life as an active lawyer. He was also an eminent poet and writer. He was erudite and eloquent. He could charm anyone. On the untimely death of his younger brother Maathachan, the sensitive Kuriechan was so bereft that he penned the poignant and sublime poem ' SO-DHA-RA-VILAA-PUM'. He also authored 'KAANCHANA-MAALA'. He has to his credit many other poems and brilliant essays.

Kuriechan married VALYYAA-RA PAA-RAAYI-L MAAMMIKUTTY. From this alliance they had five children, namely; KUTTAPPAN, THANKAMMA, ANNAKUTTY, VAKKACHAN and THOMMACHAN.

Kuriechan was a reformist and a progressive thinker. He was also a very energetic and enthusiastic person. But after the illness of his eldest son he became an introvert. The sudden death of his brothers, Thommachan, Appachan and Cheriachan during this period also affected him greatly. He renounced from active social and business life all of a sudden and became a reclusive person.

ELEVENTH GENERATION

N.K. XAVIER (KUTTAPPAN), the eldest son of Kuriechan, after he completed his education married THANKAMMA, the eldest daughter of the famous and well known Advocate. KORA of Kuzhikkattu family from Ponkunnam. From this marriage he had two children. A few years after his marriage, Kuttappan became ill. Even though he was treated by the best doctors and in the best hospitals, he never fully recovered. Kuttappan died on 23rd June 1964, in Vazhapally and was buried in the cemetery at Pazhavangadi church, Alappuzha.

Kuttappan is survived by his wife Thankamma and their two children BABU and RAJAN. They settled in Vazhapally, Changanacherry in 1953. Thankamma was teaching there in St. Theresas School, Vazhapally. On the side she also did agriculture in their fields nearby. She retired as High School Senior Assistant. After her retirement they shifted to Ernakulam in1975. Thankamma lived with Rajan and Christie until her death on 10th April 1996.

TWELFTH GENERATION

N. X. KURIAN (BABU) married JEMMA of CHOOLACKAL family from Ernakulam and settled in Ernakulam. They have two sons named XAVIER [Kuttappan] and MATHEW.

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

XAVIER KURIAN (KUTTAPPAN) is an Engineer. He married TERESA of PALLI-VAA-THU-CKAL family from Kanjirapally and they have three children. KURIAN, JEMMA and MARIE

KURIAN XAVIER (KURIAPPY) is studying in the 7th Standard and is twelve years old now (2020)

JEMMA XAVIER is studying in the 6th standard and is eleven years old now (2020)

MARIE XAVIER is studying in the 2nd standard and is seven years old now (2020)

N.X. GEORGE (RAJAN) was born on 16th February 1944. After his graduation he engaged in Agricultural activities. He married CHRISTIE, daughter of Prof. P.C.Devasia M.A, of PLACKEEL family from Kudamaloor and settled in Ernakulam. Christie's mother is Mary Devasia of CHANDY family from Trichur. They have three children, two sons and a daughter named XAVIER (RENJITH), SEBASTIAN (RAJESH), and ROSHNA.

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

XAVIER GEORGE (RENJITH) was born on 14th November 1975. He married SAYALY JAWDEKAR daughter of Sanjay Jawdekar and Sheela Jawdekar from Poona. He works in the Bank of America in New York now (2020). They live in New Jersey. Sayaly is also a software Engineer. She works in Zipari.com, New York. They have a son named ROHAN

FOURTEENTH GENERATION

ROHAN XAVIER was born on 11th February 2006. He is studying in the 7th Standard in New Jersey now (2020).

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

SEBASTIAN GEORGE (RAJESH) was born on 14th September 1979. He is a Software Engineer. He worked as a manager in ITC Info Tech before he left for the US. He works at Vangaend, Philadelphia now (2020). He married TISSA daughter of Devy Joseph and Kochuthresia of MENACHERRY family from Alwaye. She is also a Software Engineer and works in QWC, Philadelphia now (2020). They have two children named EVA and SERA.

FOURTEENTH GENERATION

EVA SEBASTIAN was born on 31st December 2011. She is studying in the 3rd Standard now (2020).

SERA SEBASTIAN was born on 12th May 2020.

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

ROSHNA GEORGE was born on 6th August 1988. She is a Software Engineer. She married JOSE KURIAN who was born on 31st December 1984. He is also a Software Engineer. He works at Feddy-Mac, Virginia. He is the son of K.O. Kurian, of KALATHAAPATHIYIL family from Kuruvilangadu and Thankamma Kurian, who belongs to the Kuzhively family. She is a Home Maker. They have a son named LIAM JOSE.

N.K. GEORGE (VAKKACHAN) the second son of Kuriechan, settled in Pullamplayil, Kannady. He married ACCHAAMMA of VAYAM-POTHA-NAAL family of Aruvithara. Vakkachan was the only one from among the Ettuparayil family of that generation who had not gone for higher education. He engaged in agricultural activities in Kuttanadu. Vakkachan has nine children of which four are daughters. They are namely THANKAMMA, KURIEAPPAN, GEORGEKUTTY, ROSAMMA, XAVIER, ANTO, TESSY, MARIAMMA and CIBY.

TWELFTH GENERATION

THANKAMMA was married off to NA-YA-THU-PARAMBU [PAA-TTA -SSERRY] JOSEPH (APPACHAN) from Maannanam. He retired as the Principal of St. Ephraim's School in 1999. Appachan died on 1st March 2019. They have four children named MATHACHAN, JOJO, MARTIN (UNNI) and LIZA.

JOSHY JOSEPH (MATHACHAN) completed his MBA and is now (2021) working in DELL, Changanacherry. He married RESMY of PUNNAKKOYICKAL family from Ramapuram. She is a teacher in a Changanacherry diocese School in Muttar. They have two children named AMITH and ALLEN

GEORGE JOSEPH (JOJO) did his MBA and is working in the HDFC Bank now (2021). He married JEENA of MADAPALLYMATTOM from Vazhoor. She completed her M.Com and then did her B.Ed. She is working in MES College. They have one child JOHAN

JOHAN is three years old now (2021)

JOSE MARTIN (UNNI) is an Engineer. He is now (2021) working in Abu Dhabi. He married RICHU. She is also an engineer and is working in Abu Dhabi. They have one child named MICAH

MICAH is five years old now (2021) and she is studying in the first standard.

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

LIZA is an Engineer. She is working in the SBI, Mannanam now (2021). She is married to EMIL of MADATHIL family from Athirampuzha. Emil is an Engineer He did his M.Tech in Architecture. He is teaching in Mangalam College and also does freelance work. They have daughter named MISHA.

FOURTEENTH GENERATION

MISHA was born in 2020. She is six months old in January 2021.

KURIAN (Kurieappan) married THA-DI-YKKAL MARIAMMA from Arivathara. He did agriculture for a time in Kuttanadu. Later he migrated to Poonjaar and settled there. He has one son named RONNY.

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

RONNY went for pastoral studies and in 2011 became a priest. He is known as Fr. GEORGE ETTUPARAYIL. He is the only person from the Ettuparayil family who became a priest in the past two generations (13th and 14th generation of the known history). He is at present (2020) in U.K.

TWELFTH GENERATION

GEORGEKUTTY married PAY-RU-M-PALLY-KUNNAY-EL ALICE from Poonjaar. Both he and his wife worked abroad in the Gulf . They have three children named GEOGEY, JOHNS (KUKKU) and ANNMARY. Georgekutty was a kind and simple man. He died tragically while working abroad. He was burried in the Kannady Church. His wife and children returned back to India.

ANNMARY who was keeping ill too died some time after Georgekutty's death at the age of nine.

ROSHAN did his MBA and he started his own college in Eratupetta. This institution is named St. MARY'S LEARNING ACCADEMY. He married JINCY of MANACHIRICKAL family from Ellackal, Rajakkadu, Idukki. Jincy did her MSc, then did her M.Ed. She now (2021) teaches students appearing for the B.Ed exams in the same institution run by Roshan

THIRTEENTH GENERATION

ROGEN is an Engineer. He dd his B.Tech in Electronics and Communications and now (2020) runs his own firm, 'ENGINEERS WORLD'. He married REJINA of KUZHIKKANNIL family from Koodalloor, Kadaplamattom. Rejina did her MSc in Physics. She is now (2021) teaching in a college in Chhattisgarh.

N.K. THOMAS (THOMMACHAN), the third son of Kuriechan, after completing his post graduation [M.A] and settled in Alappuzha. He ran a tutorial college there and was actively involved in politics. He married ROSSY of AKKARAPATTIYIL of Trichur. He has seven children, three sons and four daughters namely, LEELAMMA, MARIAMMA, THANKAMMA, KURIACHEN, MAANI, MATHACHAN and USHUS. Thommachan died in 2007.

N. K. THOMAS ETTUPARAYIL, the youngest son of N.X.Kurian was born on the 23rd of July 1924 (in the Malayalam year '99' during the biggest flood in Kerala's known history). He completed his studies achieving both his B.A, and double M.A(in Economics and in English) from St. Xavier's College, Bombay, in 1950. He was employed in the TATA industries. He gave up his job and came back to Kerala to take care of the family properties as his father was getting old.

He got married to ROSSY, daughter of A.I. MANI, of AKKARAPATTY family from TRICHUR. A. I. Mani was a well known businessman. N.K. Thomas started his own Tutorial colege in 1953. The college is still continuing as a parallel college even now (2021). Thousands of students, especially those who were weak in English joined the college and acquired their degrees with flying colors. The NATIONAL COLLEGE became very popular locally. Soon its fame spread around in Alleppey. It even started post graduate classes. Many students passing out from the institution were rank holders too.

In 1957 KSU (Kerala Students Union) affiliated to the Indian National Congress, started in the NATIONAL COLLEGE. Here many of the Congress leaders like, A. K. ANTONY, VYLAR RAVI, OOMMEN CHANDY, V. M. SUDHEERAN, K. C. VENUGOPAL and the like started their political careers from KSU. N. K. Thomas groomed all these political leaders in the Indian National Congress. He was a very dedicated and hardworking family man, running the college and looking after his properties in R. Block, C. Block, Changanacherry and other places. He also used to teach in the Polytechnic in Alappuzha. He was the Asst. Manager of State India Assurance Company and was also a Life Insurance agent.

His command in English was phenomenal. He used to translate Nehru's speeches and was an extra-ordinary public speaker. He was very versatile in both English and Malayalam oration. In spite of his busy schedule he always found time to spend with his family. He used to take care of his sick wife, and his seven children. He used to help the local community a lot, using his influence to find jobs for the needy, resolving problems in the neighborhood factories and local disturbances. He was actively involved in local politics.

N. K. Thomas was also a great sportsman. He was good in Tennis and Volley ball. He was also a very good actor. He played in many dramas and he had also acted in a Kunjacko cinema titled 'Bharya'.
