(a) Placing a thin sheet of plywood, hardboard or MDF under the sheet will act as a chip breaker and prevent spelching on the underside as the saw cuts through.

(b) Using a dimension saw with a small scribing saw. The purpose of the small anticlockwise scribing saw is to cut the face before the sheet come into contact with the main cutting saw.

(c) Lowering the saw in the table has the effect of reducing the angle of the cutting face of the saw
