March 25, Empathy Cafe: How to spread the Empathy Circle practice in XR?
Online Free Event on Zoom. In this Empathy Cafe, we will use the Empathy Circle process to discuss and take tangible steps to spread the Empathy Circle process widely throughout the Extinction Rebellion movement and beyond.
We want to support people in learning and deepening their active listening (aka, empathic listening, reflective listening, deep listening) skills. We want every person to be able to;
* take part in an Empathy Circle,
* facilitate an Empathy Circle
* facilitate an Empathy Cafe.
* train others in the practice.
We will talk about how local XR CHAPTERS, ANY GROUP and ALL ORGANIZATIONS can get support for holding online Empathy Circles. If your group set the times and dates, brings together people online, we can help you facilitate an Empathy Circle.

André S Clements This is important work, especially because we aim to be nonviolent, and that is difficult at the best of times, especially when we also practice decentralization and autonomy. We all have different levels of empathy. To those who have more empathy than you, you seem callous, to those with less empathy than you, you seem weak or perhaps even selfish. The more we are faced with threat the more this will lead to painful conflict and damage to our cause. We can counteract this by developing shared empathy skills through practices like this. I'm a stay at home mom of 4, (2 in college) I live in a very politically conservative region, I am a liberal I am a convert to Christianity at age 31 (20 years ago) I would like to be part of helping our region a nd humankind become more empathetic. In my family and in the area there is a lot of anger because we don't understand our feelings or needs or how to get them met. Thank you Edwin, bottom line I'm a super newbie! I work in a university library in Canada. I am interested in trying to host empathy circles with my co-workers while we all work at home, deal with COVID-19 fears, and go through deep provincial budget cuts during all of this. However,
I am not sure about the TOPICS … what should I suggest?
