A MESSAGE FROM KEVIN MACDONALD:

Dear Life in a Day Participant,

Firstly, may I wish you a Happy New Year from all of us on the production.

Today we are unveiling Life in a Day at Sundance for the film's World Premiere. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for participating in this extraordinary experience, for offering up your valuable time and giving us a wealth of wonderful, touching, funny and poignant films about your lives. The film simply could not have been completed without the generosity, dedication and determination of all of you.

We received a staggering 80,000 clips of film from all around the world for potential inclusion in the film - about 4,500 hours. With so much wonderful footage available to us choosing what to include in the film was extremely difficult. We honestly could have made many more films from all of the material received, so don't be disheartened if your footage was not included in the final film! We probably thought it was beautiful material but just didn't have room in a 90 minute film to include it. Remember that the videos in the Life In A Day gallery have already received over 5 million views and this historic archive, of what life was like on 24th July 2010, will live on at www.youtube.com/lifeinaday.

The live stream of the world premiere will take place on the Life in a Day channel (www.youtube.com/lifeinaday) today, Thursday 27th January at 8pm EST. Outside of the US you can tune in for the re-broadcast at 7pm on Friday, January 28, in your local time zone. This will be your only chance to see Life in a Day before it is released across the world later in 2011.

For those of you who are interested in helping the finished film reach as many people as possible, we would love to make you a part of our grassroots Life in a Day campaign. To participate, please visit http://youtube.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=39aab2e9005d37bed7a6438e9&id=512e7ac9de&e=160d12c1d2.

And once again, thank you for the wonderful experience I've had in making Life In A Day with you. I hope you enjoy the film and that you are proud of your part in this historic project.

Kevin Macdonald

Life in a Day: Five Important Updates

Dear Life in a Day Subscribers --

Happy new year! We hope this finds you enjoying a happy and healthy 2011.

We're writing today with five important updates on Life in a Day.

First, thank you again to everyone who submitted, subscribed or contributed in any way to the Life in a Day experiment. You are the reason for its success.

At this point, Kevin and the Life in a Day team have been in touch with everyone whose footage will be included in the finished film and with the 20 contributors who have been selected to make the trip to Sundance. We'd like to relay Kevin's thoughts here: that every step in the selection process was more difficult than the last, given how much amazing content you submitted. Thank you again for your hard work and please remember that all submitted clips will live on in the Life in a Day gallery on YouTube, which will be updated and enhanced in the coming months.

Second, as you may have noticed, we recently released the first teaser from the finished film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xfl_1QjxRM. This is only one clip of thousands that are used in the film, all of which vary greatly in terms of content, style and technique. We hope you enjoy watching all of the Life in a Day teasers and behind-the-scenes looks in the coming weeks and that they inspire you to tune in to the film's world premiere.

Third, for those of you who are interested in helping the finished film reach as many people as possible, we would love to make you a part of our grassroots Life in a Day marketing efforts. To participate, please email LifeInADayTeam@gmail.com and state your interest. We'll add you to a list of Life in a Day power users and, together, we'll work to expand the reach of this groundbreaking project.

Fourth, don't forget that the live stream of the world premiere will take place on the Life in a Day channel (www.youtube.com/lifeinaday) on Thursday, January 27 at 5pm PT. For those of you who can't make it online then, you can tune in for the re-broadcast at 7pm on Friday, January 28, in your local time zone. This will be your only chance to see Life in a Day before it is released later in 2011 (more details on that soon), so don't miss out!

And, fifth, be sure to check out the Life in a Day channel daily from January 24 to January 27 to see on-the-ground updates from Kevin and the contributors, and to submit questions for a live streamed Q&A following the world premiere.

Thanks again to everyone for making this experiment such a success! We look forward to sharing the finished film with you soon.
