The eGallery
An eGallery is a collection of projects produced by students, to demonstrate their comprehension and mastery of the topics and concepts they are learning. These projects can span the levels of Bloom’s taxonomy from knowledge and comprehension, and the higher levels of thinking. These projects can also be inter-curricular, allowing students to make connections between the different content areas.
Students enjoy being praised for their hard work. There is no better intrinsic motivator than allowing students their day in the sun. By this I mean recognizing their efforts by posting their work in an eGallery, on a class or school website. Student projects posted in this way give students a sense of accomplishment and pride. Access to the website also allows their parents, family, and friends to also experience their work as well, from the comfort of their own home.
They also serve as good examples of works written by their peers. Students can gain insight and a new perspective by reading works that have been written by their peers. They will gain new ideas and learn new information. Educators can use the eGallery as a way for students to practice their reading skills as well. Students can be required to read these projects and offer written responses about them. They can be asked to critique them and write about what they have learned.
eGalleries can consist of mixed media projects. Media formats that can be posted include Powerpoint presentations, eBooks, photos, MP3s, podcasts, iMovies, and videos. Examples of projects incorporating these media formats include:
Science Fair Experiments
A Solution to a Controversial Topic or Problem
A Debate

Articles, Critiques, Opinions
Comic Strips and Storyboards

Interviews
