Organizing and saving student work electronically is an efficient way to save student work paperlessly and save a few trees at the same time. Students can create their own portfolios from folders on the desktop on their computers. All that needs to be done is to go to the “Finder” menu, choose “File” and click on “new folder.” A yellow folder will appear on the desktop. Students can put their names on this folder. Teachers may also create folders for different types of student work and fit them inside the portfolio. In this case, separate folders for each type of student work such as:
*essays
*reports
*projects and activities
*worksheets
*exams
*homework
may be created, named, and dragged into the portfolio. This allows the teacher to create and post documents on a website, and the student to download these documents into their portfolios and save them. Their work can be completed and saved on their computers and/or a thumbdrive.
