Planning the eCurriculum
The eCurriculum is a class or course made up of electronic learning components that are created by educators for the use of students both within and outside the classroom. The benefits of this type of curriculum is that it is paperless and exists on a computer or computer device, easily accessible through the internet, may be posted on educator websites, and are accessible both within and outside the classroom.
The eCurriculum consists of learning components such as electronic lessons, activities, assessments, and resources. The components of an eCurriculum are made up of eLearning tools created by the educator for student use. These eTools can be created by using applications such as Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers. Powerpoint, or ComicLife.
The eCurriculum may include the following eLearning Tools:
eTextbook
eLesson
eWorkbook
eNotebook, eJournal, and/or eLab book
ePortfolio
eBinder/eFolder
Multimedia eResources
Web Resources
eLibrary or eBookshelf
Dropbox
Templates for most of these components have been posted to this website for you to download and use as part of your curriculum. These files appear in the "Attachment" section of this webpage.
The eCurriculum Planner
The eCurriculum planner is an electronic planner educators can use to plan out their lessons and activities for a specified amount of time. The eCurriculum planner takes into account
-the content standards (sub standards)
-analysis of these sub-standards
-time-line for instruction
-levels of thinking (complexity/rigor)
-differentiation (for students who are special ed, gifted, ESL intervention, etc...)
-student collaboration
Below is a Sample Unit Lesson Organizer found in an eCurriculum planner. It is developed after analysis and interpretation of the 8th grade Science Content Standards has taken place. The educator can then create and write detailed lesson plans for each lesson.
