People stats - QOF data (October)
This is the Quality and Outcomes Framework. It is used to make sure that GPs are paid for each patient on their register, with points awarded for certain interventions offered appropriately. For people interested in diabetes statistics it is the closest thing to a diabetes register (it is also a register for several diseases and conditions). It has data for people aged 17 or over and each nation has its own QOF but it doesn't distinguish Type 1 from Type 2 diabetes (or any of the other rarer forms of diabetes).
- England 2012/2013 (published 29 October 2013)
People stats - Mortality (death) stats (October / November)

There is quite detailed information available on cause of death, including a section on endocrinology/ metabolism which includes deaths from Type 1, Type 2 and other forms of diabetes (which are lumped together). Within each there are subsections relating to specific problems, and also divided by sex and age bands. More at Mortality Statistics: Deaths Registered in England and Wales (Series DR)
