(A) NPDA (National Paediatric Diabetes Audit) information published in December 2013 indicates that "records from 25,390 children and young people with diabetes were submitted to the 2011-12 NPDA, an increase of 7.2% compared with 23,676 in 2010-11. Some of this may be a real increase in diabetes incidence. For England and Wales combined, there were a total of 25,199 children and young people under the age of 25 years cared for in Paediatric Diabetes Units..."

The vast majority of infants, children and young people have type 1 diabetes, although there is considerable variability across regions in England."
