Learning by Doing: Let's Go!

Why am I here?

I had been looking for a better digital publishing platform. I wanted a tool that met my current needs yet was flexible enough to reconfigure incrementally as my abilities and requirements evolved over time.

I spent many months getting up-to-speed with Web 2.0. The Links page describes my activities. I tested nearly all free-of-charge digital publishing platforms for English-language speakers, producing unique content with most of them.

I wanted to acquire a user's perspective on the performance and functionality of a Google site, especially in combination with Google's Chrome browser. I have completed what I set out to do. Google Sites is a basic content management system. However, it is well-suited to a personal or non-commercial website. My next objective will be registration of my own domain with hosting or my own server. I want to do this very much. To-date, I've been limited to digital publishing applications with sub-domain hosting included.

Note:   There is an Official Google Group associated with this site. Although Google announced the discontinuation of Groups in September 2010, it seems as though only certain features will be disabled. Revisions and file uploads have not yet been entirely disabled as of May 2011. Google Groups remain online. Our group of Oinkville has been given a reprieve. Status updates will be provided when they become available.
