Artemis II 01-10 APR 26
The first crewed Artemis flight marks a key step toward long‑term return to the Moon and future missions to Mars.
Artemis II is NASA’s first crewed mission under the Artemis program and will launch from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will send NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen on an approximately 10-day journey around the Moon. Among objectives, the agency will test the Orion spacecraft’s life support systems for the first time with people and lay the groundwork for future crewed Artemis missions.

A Piece of the Original Wright Flyer
On December 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved the first flight of a powered heavier-than-air aircraft. The Artemis II mission will carry a small swatch of fabric from the Wright Brothers’ flyer.
Did you know? Neil Armstrong took small pieces of the Wright Flyer with him when he landed on the surface of the Moon in 1969.
A Flag from the First Shuttle Mission
The first Space Shuttle mission, STS-1, was launched on April 12, 1981. An American flag that was on board that flight will be carried into space again by Artemis II.
