Marshalling an Aircraft (Regional Airline Ops)

Of the military publications out there, I like the U.S. Air Force's

AFMAN 11-218 AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS AND MOVEMENT ON THE GROUND,

the 2019 publication has really clear graphics utilizing an actual human avatar instead of a stick figure or what have you. Below are excerpts from the 05 APRIL 2019 edition. ( I have a few variations on this but otherwise pretty much how I worked the ramp.)

Approximate weights of aviation fuels:

JET A -- 6.7 lbs/gal

AVGAS -- 6 lbs/gal

(Water weighs approximately 8.4 lbs/gal, which is why it will settle to the bottom of a tank if present.)

(Unleaded automotive, as an example, beaded atop water which have both been dumped on to dry concrete. This "beading" is one way of differentiating between water spilled on ground and AVGAS spilled on the ground.)

Aircraft Towing

Aircraft towing seems like a pretty straight forward activity, until you throw in things like the use of tow pins, hydraulic disconnects, tow limits, proper tow bar/head (or proper capture method with Lektro type tugs), etc.
