Restorative Justice and CoE.

Here is a new paper on restorative justice. In the authors work, Michael and Dominic, use empathic listening in a process called restorative circles. The empathy circles are a simple first step for this more extensive process.

What I think a culture of empathy gives it, is a vision of the empathic qualities we are trying to restore. That is why I call a circle for dealing with conflict a restorative empathy circle.’ I find term ‘Restorative Practices/Justice’ is vague on what it is restoring.

Also, what a culture of empathy vision gives us is the set of values and way of being we can work towards. Having a culture of empathy can head off a lot of conflict before it happens. We can also work toward building the culture of empathy.
