We agree that we all want to create a Culture of Empathy and it is important

Building a culture of empathy takes time and practice

    • It takes time

We have to create the conditions for a culture of empathy

    • How might we create the conditions for a culture of empathy

    • Need a commitment to taking the time

We want people to feel heard.

We need time for that empathy

    • The culture doesn’t set aside time.

    • People don’t have time for empathic listening and democracy. They are busy working on material needs.

    • We need a different cultural paradigm that values empathy.

    • A culture of empathy will collapse the system. People who benefit from the existing system will resist this. Need to rest from work and then go back to work..

    • A culture of empathy brings not just a spiritual change but affects the materialistic culture.

Structure for Culture of Empathy Visioning

    • Who are we and what are our principles

    • What would a culture of empathy look like?

      • People would be doing empathy circles

    • Bill, Not so pessimistic that the system will collapse.

Problems

    • Doing a culture of empathy will lead to societal disruptions.

    • Will lead to current system failure: People don’t have time for empathy (Listening/ - causes collapse f

      • Need to take time

    • Activists want to take actions.

    • Empathy structure Culture collapse.

    • We all feel what we are doing is historical

    • The results is empathy builds trust and community

Don’t be an Empathy Nazi - totalitarian

Empathy has many Benefits

    • People will feel more fulfilled and increased well being.

    • Creates community, feel deeply connected

    • People need to feel the benefits of empathy

Problem: People have an experience - but they don’t come back to the Empathy Circle

    • People are pulled back to business as usual. People are pulled back into the system.. Pay their depths, children, daily limitations - that pull them back. Takes heros to stay with it.

    • Appreciate the honesty, to tell the truth. - do activists tell the truth - no.

    • The system is a barrier for the cultural shift. People hit the wall. If you break the wall it will lead to collapse, conflict, it is fearful.

    • The people in power will not let the system go. The people benefit from the system. Benefit from hierarchy, competition. power, etc.

Idea

    • Take on the political structure. (Competition). For creating the new empathic models. There overall culture paradigm

The importance of a Culture of empathy vision

    • The clear vision of a culture of empathy is giving people a tool

    • Then there are strategies like getting politicians to do empathy circles.

We keep hitting the wall - fear of the results, disruptive and destructive.

    • Fear the resistance.

    • What is the new model.

The resistance to MLK, - didn’t have an empathic vision.
