Once you've climbed Culebra Peak, you'll have a great view of the southernmost subrange of the Rocky Mountains. While Colorado and New Mexico share the Sangre de Christo range, New Mexico doesn't hold any fourteeners within its borders. As one might expect from the most southerly of Colorado's fourteeners, they are characterized as steep, dry, and secluded. Noting this, it is important to realize that most of the 4x4 roads demand TRUE 4x4 capabilities - do not expect to skirt by as one might be able to, say, at the Mosquito Range's trailheads.
