Driving Directions
from Boulder, take Canyon west toward Nederland
at the roundabout in Nederland, take Highway 72 south
after 0.5 miles, take a right onto County Road 130
toward El Dora
continue on this road for ~4.8 miles
park where conditions allow

Hessie trailhead offers a number of wonderful day hikes and backpacking adventures. With opportunities to mosey on over to Lost Lake for a day of fishing, hike up to King Lake, or ruck it to Devil's Thumb Lake, you'll find what you're looking for at this winter-accessible trailhead.
Of note, this trailhead leads into the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. A permit to camp in the area is required from June to September, which can be obtained in Nederland at Indian Peaks Ace Hardware.
